Kannur Camping and Trekking Places
Kannur is a coastal district in Kerala, known for its cultural heritage and also famous for its beautiful beaches, traditional Theyyam performances, and scenic camping and trekking spots like Paithalmala.

Palakkayam Thattu: This hill station near Kannur is known for its breathtaking views and is perfect for both trekking and camping. Palakkayam Thattu standing tall at a height of 3,500 ft
above sea level, the hill station has been attracting thousands of tourists from far and wide due to its pristine, natural beauty. This hill station one of the best sunrise and sunset views which you will cherish for life.

Paithalmala: This is very popular trekking place in Kannur, located near the Kerala-Karnataka border. The place offers a 5 km long trekking trails through the semi-evergreen shola forests. At Paithalmala trekkers has two choice of routes. One route starts near Alakodu (Kappimala) which is a difficult route and hence avoided by beginners. The othe route begins from Pottenplave, near Kudianmala, is the more easier one.

Ezhimala Hills: Ezhimala situated at a height of 286 metres from sea level, offers opportunity to trekking and camping spots. You can enjoy great views of the Arabian Sea from the hills. The seven-peak mountain of Ezhimala has a rich past that dates back to the ancient period. A centre for trade during ancient times, the region was frequented by Arab traders. A walk up the hill reveals the ruins of a mosque, which is believed to house the mortal remains of the Muslim reformist Shaikh Abdul Latheef.

Madayipara: A flat-topped hill offering easy trekking paths and an opportunity to camp in nature. Spreading across an area of 700 acres, along with its picturesque landscapes, it also has an ancient fort called the Madayi Fort built by the Vallabha King. Madayipara is rich with wide species of flowers and rare collection of insect- eating plants. It is also home to hundreds of bird and butterfly species and a pond in the shape of a handheld mirror. The Madayi Kavu that hosts the Pooram festival and the Vadukunda Shiva Temple makes this place a favourite pilgrim destination.
